Licensing, Registration & Activation

Multi-seat Stand-Alone License

The multi-seat stand-alone (MSSA) license is available for many Autodesk products in select marketplaces. The MSSA license allows you to install, register, and activate stand-alone licensed Autodesk products on several workstations using a single serial number. You can use the Autodesk Deployment Wizard to create preconfigured install images. Only one serial number is required to install and activate multiple workstations.

Install and activate each seat of the MSSA license on one additional workstation for each user, such as on a home or a remote workstation. You can do this only if the two workstations are used at different times, by the same user, and are owned or under the control of the license holder.

Grace Period

After purchasing an Autodesk product, you can install and use your product for a specified time before registering and activating it. After this grace period expires, your product will stop working until you register and activate it. You can activate your license at any time during or after the grace period.

Online License Transfer (OLT)

You can use the new OLT feature with the MSSA license. Also, the MSSA license is ideal for deploying to a large number of workstations where network licensing is not an option.

Registration and Activation

Deploy your multi-seat licensed Autodesk product from a central server by using the Deployment Wizard to create a preconfigured install image. During this process, you are asked to enter your registration information, serial number, and product key. The preconfigured install image is used to install the product on individual workstations. You can automate the software delivery using Group Policies, Microsoft SMS\SCCM, or other methods. Refer to the Network Administrator's Guide on your Autodesk product distribution media for more information.

You do not need to enter the serial number, product key, or registration information for each workstation. If the workstations are connected to the Internet, the software automatically activates on each workstation when the product is started for the first time, with no user interaction required.

If an Internet connection is unavailable, begin the registration process on each workstation to obtain a request code and complete the License Registration and Activation Assistance form. Note that each installed workstation generates its own unique request code. Consequently, the corresponding unique activation code issued by Autodesk cannot be used on any other workstation; it can only be used once in response to the corresponding request code.
